Go live: from the checklist to your first real payment

Finish the Getting started checklist, verify your business, request go-live, and switch to your Live key once VEXPay approves your account.

What you will do

Your Live account starts pending: live keys return 403 live_mode_not_activated and live payment links take no payments. VEXPay approves live mode after reviewing your business and your integration. This playbook takes you through every step, in order.

  • Your integration already works in Test (see Test everything first).
  • Your company documents at hand: registration deed, tax ID certificate, the legal representative's ID and a proof of address (PDF, PNG or JPEG, up to 10 MB each).

Complete the Getting started checklist

The portal Overview shows a Getting started checklist. Work through it on your Live account:

  1. Add your contact info

Save the owner email and phone when the portal asks. They are private: never shown to buyers or sent in the API. Until they are saved, the portal refuses to create, rotate or reveal any key, and refuses go-live (409 owner_contact_required).

  2. Verify your business

Open Business verification. Fill in company details, business activity, the legal representative and beneficial owners (25% or more), the PEP declaration and attestations, upload the documents, and submit. You can edit it while it is a draft or when VEXPay requests changes (their note is shown).

  3. Get your API credentials

Have at least one active key in Credentials. Live keys can be created once live mode is approved; until then, use Test.

  4. Add a webhook endpoint

At least one active endpoint in Webhooks. See Set up webhooks.

  5. Save and verify your payout account

Save a Pago Móvil payout account in Payouts and confirm the two micro-deposits, or save a USDT wallet in USDT (usable 24 hours after saving). See Withdraw your balance.

  6. Marketplaces: register and verify a seller

Marketplace accounts also register their first seller and verify one seller payout destination. See Onboard a seller.

Request go-live

  1. Finish one test payment and one webhook delivery

VEXPay reviews your Test account for at least one completed payment and one successful webhook delivery.

  2. Click Request go-live

On the Live portal, click Request go-live on the "Live mode pending review" banner. The banner then shows that review was requested. The button does not work from the Test portal.

  3. Send a short video of your integration

VEXPay asks for a short video of your integration working end to end (a buyer paying and your system reacting). Send it on WhatsApp to +58 414 933 3844 (wa.me/584149333844) with your account name. Approval waits until it has been reviewed.

  4. Wait for approval

Approval needs your business verification to be approved and your owner contact saved. When live mode is approved you receive the tenant.live_status_changed webhook and the banner disappears.

Switch to live

  1. Create a live key

With Live selected, open Credentials and create a key. Store it in your production environment.

  2. Register production webhooks on Live

Live and Test have separate endpoints and secrets. Register your production URL on the Live account and store its secret.

  3. Deploy and make one small real payment

Deploy with the live key, pay a small real amount, and check it end to end.

Check the live keybash
curl "${API_URL}/v1/banks" \
  --header "x-api-key: ${VEXPAY_API_KEY}"
# 200 = live mode active · 403 live_mode_not_activated = not approved yet

Check that it worked

  • GET /v1/banks with the live key returns 200.
  • Your first real payment is COMPLETED, and its payment.completed webhook has livemode: true.
  • Live credits show as held for 24 hours in GET /v1/balance (heldVes, nextReleaseAt), then become available.
